One of the biggest pains with moving to a new phone is all the valuable data that you leave behind in the old one. If you've recently purchase your Moto X or Droid Turbo, but don't know how to get your content from your old phone onto the new one, don't worry, Motorola developed a great app - Motorola Migrate - allows you to transfer data to Motorola device from a number of sources, including Android, iPhone and non-smartphones. Motorola Migrate supports movable data INCLUDE:
Move your stuff including contacts, text messages, call history, pictures, videos, and music from your old phone to new Motorola phone.
Motorola Migrate supports migration FROM:
- Android 2.2+ above
- iCloud
- Non-smartphones/traditional phones with Bluetooth support
Motorola Migrate supports migration TO:
- Moto X, Moto G, Moto E, Droid Turbo, Droid Maxx, Droid Mini and Droid Ultra
- Excludes Motorola Nexus/GPE devices.
Part One: Migrate Data from Android
1. On the old Android device, download Motorola Migrate from Google Play Store. Open the app, tap Start and ensure the Scan to connect screen is displayed.
2. On the new Moto X/G/E, open the Motorola Migrate app and select Android, then tap Next. (If prompted, tap the download icon to update Migrate to the latest version.)
3. Check the items you wish to move, then tap Next. Now using THE QR scanner on your old Android phone to scan the QR code that is displayed on the Moto.
4. Once a connection is established, content will be transferred from the previous device to the new Moto X/G/E. Once the transfer is complete, tap Exit.
Note: The transfer process may take some time depending how much content is being transferred.
Part Two: Migrate from iPhone
1. On your iPhone, go to Settings > iCloud to sync your contacts and calendar events to iCloud.
2. Open the Migrate app on your new Moto phone and select iPhone as the source device.
3. Enter your iCloud ID and password and tap Next to continue. After entering your iCloud account, click Begin Transfer and move on.
4. After that, log into the Google Account and the migration will begin automatically. Once the transfer is complete, tap Done.
That's it. With Motorola Migrate, you can move important data from your old phone to your new Moto X, Moto G, Moto E, Droid Turbo, Droid Maxx, etc. Alternatively, there are many other third-party tools available to transfer data from old Android/iPhone to new Moto phone, such as Jihosoft Phone Data Transfer.
