Just as we expected, Apple introduced the next generation of its best-selling smartphones, the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, at its annual media event in San Francisco. The iPhone 6s looks identical to last year's 4.7-inch iPhone 6, reserving its most important changes for the hardware interior. It features iOS 9, an A9 chip and M9 motion coprocessor, 3D Touch, 12-megapixel rear-facing camera, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, stronger glass and Series 7000 aluminum, faster Touch ID, Live Photos and a new Rose Gold color option.

• iOS 9 – iPhone 6s and 6s Plus will run on iOS 9, mining all of those software enhancements, like a smarter Siri and up to three hours battery life, plus a new Low Power Mode.
• A9 Processor - iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are powered by an Apple A9 clip and embedded M9 motion coprocessor that deliver up to 70% faster CPU performance and up to 90% faster graphics compared to the A8 chip inside the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
• 3D Touch - The 3D Touch on iPhone 6s and 6s Plus is similar to Force Touch on Apple Watch, enabling users to make "peek and pop" gestures on the screen to access actionable shortcuts or preview content, such as text messages, flight information, calendar appointments and more.
• Improved Camera - iPhone 6s and 6s Plus feature an improved 12-megapixel rear-facing iSight camera with 4K video recording and 5-megapixel front-facing FaceTime camera with true tone Retina Flash.
• Improved Touch ID - iPhone 6s and 6s Plus also have a second-generation Touch ID fingerprint scanner that is up to two times faster compared to Touch ID on previous iPhones.
• Rose Gold Color - The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus are crafted from Series 7000 aluminum and come in a new Rose Gold color, alongside Silver, Space Gray and Gold.

Pricing and Availability
The iPhone 6S (and its 5.5-inch twin, the 6S Plus,) will be open for preorder on September 12, with phones arriving in stores around the globe on September 25.

• In the US, the 16GB version that starts at $200 on contract (the 6S Plus will cost $300 on contract).
• In the UK, the iPhone 6S costs £540 (16GB), £620 (64GB) and £700 (128GB). In contrast, the 6S Plus will go for £620, £700 and £790, respectively.
• In Australia, the iPhone 6S costs AU$1,079 (16GB), AU$1,229 (64GB) and AU$1,379 (128GB). The 6S Plus will go for AU$1,229, AU$1,379 and AU$1,529, respectively.
